there is yet hope for our future who understands the importance of culture and tradition from all over the world
My love of Japanese culture is fully encompassed in this illustration. The thought to create this was from an inspiration I got from another floating island illustration I saw while admiring different styles of photo manipulation. As I always had the thought to create something that would express the style and culture of the Japanese (and include a dragon) the inspiration made me create this piece. Another reason I created this was because I had done a research project for alternative media in my International Mass Communication class. My group chose to represent Japanese-American actresses and how they had been treated unfairly during the early times of Hollywood. The actress we had researched had played the role of a geisha in a certain movie, which made me include a geisha in this illustration. Although people might think of it as making fun of or even degrading the Japanese or its history, it is a part of their history and I thought it was an important part to include. Japan is a wonderful place and I hope to visit it again soon! Also, this is a different style that I’ve never tried before but I think it turned out pretty good.
