Artist Statement/Design Philosophy
As a graphic designer, I have had the opportunity to work on various projects for my club, internship, and freelance graphic design work. I am within many different social media platforms to further increase my exposure in the design, photography, and illustration community. I love designing, especially graphic and editorial design. I also love manipulating photo compositions as most are able to digitally show what I am thinking in my head. Adobe CC has become a huge part of my life as I use these software, especially Illustrator and Photoshop, and I will continually use it in my future. I’ve talked to various people about this industry and profession and it’s interesting that I’ve never known about it before I got to my junior year of college.
Design is all around us. Whether we like it or not, everything we encounter can be seen as design. I like to see design as a sort of perfection. The little things that people think don’t matter actually do and the difference between a great design and weird design can be a matter of one little thing. I like to see these things and improve upon these flaws/mistakes that might not matter to others. It’s important to me to have good design because it can increase the aesthetic of the world we live in and have a better impact on our lives. Good, clean design can help increase the quality of a website or a piece of art or even an article. We see an abundance of design in our daily lives and most often than not, it is “just there”.
As an advertising major, I also enjoy being an art director where I am able to create ads, especially with graphics. Having clean, pleasing, and eye-catching graphic ads can be the difference between people looking at your product/brand and not even remembering it. For me, it’s important to have good design to spark interest in consumers and for the users who look, use, or consume things will have a pleasing and satisfied experience.

365_challenge: link
The 365 challenge is a food illustration challenge I started in May 2018. The purpose is to create a food illustration every day for a year! Most are my original ideas but I also receive submissions on Instagram which are differentiated with quotations (ex. my design: Day 001 - hotdog, submission: Day 73 - “Cascading Cookies and Cream cake”).
